Hunter
Gold Mine
In March 2006, Brigadier Gold Limited signed an option
agreement with ValGold Resources Ltd. to acquire up to an 80%
interest in the historic Hunter Gold Mine. A past producer
in the prolific Porcupine Gold Camp near Timmins, Ontario which
produced over 60 million ounces of gold, the Hunter Mine is
located on a 160 hectare land package adjacent to the renowned
Dome Mine.
In 1983, Wabigoon Resources Ltd. acquired the property, intersecting
a 285 metre long zone that was reported to average 10.3 g/t
gold across an average width of 1.2 metres.
In July, 2003, ValGold optioned the Hunter Property and, in
2004, completed 14 drill holes, totaling 3,100 metres. ValGold
reported gold assays ranging up to 35.39 g/t over 0.5 metres
and 35.95 g/t over 0.78 metres. Several core intercepts returned
anomalous gold assays ranging from 1.01 g/t to 2.61 g/t, with
an average grade of 1.73 g/t gold.
Brigadier is preparing for a minimum 1,700 metre drill program
which will begin in September 2007 to test the continuation
of this mineralization down plunge to the north and a favourable
horizon to the southwest in an area that is on strike with
the Dome Super Pit and in which there is no record of previous
drilling.
Larder
Lake Project
Located to the south and west of the town of Larder
Lake, the Larder Lake Project consists of three significant
gold zones: the Albert Kokotow Gold Zone, the M-Island Gold
Zone and the McCrea Gold Zone. The Larder Lake/Kirkland Lake
area is a prolific gold producing area in which over 30 million
ounces of gold has been produced from 25 mines.
Albert Kokotow Gold Zone
Brigadier began exploration of the Albert Kokotow Gold Zone
in late 1996. Highlights of historical exploration include:
- Grab
samples of up to 41.1 g/t;
- Channel samples including
1.7 metres averaging 9.8 g/t;
- Pit blast grading 0.5
kg sample grading 34.0 g/t;
- Drilling returning grades
up to 3.4 g/t over 5.0 metres, incl. 6.17 g/t over
2.0 metres.
Brigadier Gold began exploration again in
late 2006/early 2007, with hole B07-04 cutting 5.31
g/t gold over
2.35 metres from 31.35 metres to 33.7 metres,
and hole B07-05
cutting
2.79 g/t gold over 8.3 metres from 82.5 metres
to 90.8 metres, including 5.11 g/t over 1.5
metres.
M-Island Gold Zone
Exploration of the M-Island Gold Zone began
in the 1930s by Knutson Mining Corporation
Limited
and continued
into
the 1980s. Work by Brigadier began in 2005.
In 2005, Brigadier Gold recovered visible
gold from
an ambitious
trenching
program, indicating the potential for an
economic gold deposit. Highlights
of past work include:
- Trenching up to 4.16
g/t over 3.7 metres, including 8.98 g/t over 1.2
metres;
- Historic
drilling: 6.17 g/t over 2.9 metres, including 18.9
g/t over 0.8 metres.
McCrea Gold Zone
The McCrea Gold Zone was evaluated by Gold
Fields Canadian Mining Ltd. in 1990.
A total of 17 pits
were blasted, and
grab samples assayed up to 10.63 g/t
gold. In addition, a channel sample returned
an assay of 8.6 g/t gold
over 0.6
metres. Matachewan
Gold Project
Located 38 kilometres southwest of Kirkland Lake,
Ont., the 780 hectare Matachewan Gold Project has been explored
since 1918 by a number of companies including Noranda Exploration
Limited, Falconbridge Limited, Queenston Mining Inc. and
Inmet Mining Corporation. Brigadier Gold began exploration
in late 2003, and in late 2004, a diamond drill program of
12 shallow holes returned positive results, including:
- Hole
CD04-11: 1.70 g/t gold over 14.0 m, including 4.10
g/t gold over 2.69 metres;
- Hole CD04-12 intersected
1.20 g/t gold over 7.5 metres.
